The Lees of Memory announced earlier this year they were back in the studio with veteran producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Stone Sour, Evanescence, Halestorm) once again. The group and Raskulinecz are no strangers to each other, in fact they go back over 20 years in friendship.
The Lees of Memory, which features John Davis and Brandon Fischer of Superdrag and Nick Slack of Slack on drums, have worked with Raskulinecz many times over the years. In 2000, they co-produced the Superdrag record “In The Valley Of Dying Stars“, which has become to many fans an essential Superdrag record.
In 2013, after Davis and Fischer had been making home demos for a new unnamed project, they had been sending Raskulinecz the demos to see what he thought of the songs. “One day he called me and said there’s enough songs here to make a record, and the we were off”, singer John Davis said when he called into The Local Buzz on Sunday night. The recordings from that session became the 2014 debut for The Lees of Memory called “Sisyphus Says”. The band played select dates to promote the album, even appearing at the 2015 SXSW festival in Austin, TX. Then in 2016 the band and Raskulinecz partnered up again for 2016’s “Unnecessary Evil“.
