3 Doors Down drummer, Greg Upchurch, steps out from behind the kit to release his first solo single called “Skin to Skin”. Upchurch has also played drums for Eleven, Puddle Of Mudd, and Chris Cornell. The song came to Upchurch when he was thinking about how he’s been feeling during quarantine. “It’s about missing that face to face interaction with people”, Upchurch said when he called into The Local Buzz on Sunday night to chat with Andy Herrin. Upchurch said the song is a positive message for everyone, reminding us all that this quarantine time will eventually pass and we can all hang out with each other once again.
When Upchurch originally wrote the song, he wanted to find someone to sing it, but then made the decision to play all the instruments and sing the song himself. He told The Local Buzz he was nervous at first, as he’s never sang before and showing people the recording was stressful at first. He then filmed a music video featuring him simultaneously playing all the parts and singing at the same time.
Upchurch said the response to the song has been exciting and he’s got other songs he plans on releasing. He’s even received calls from mangers attempting to sign him, but says he’s just enjoying the moment and has no plans to pursue any offers at the moment. You can stream “Skin to Skin” everywhere now and you can hear his full interview on The Local Buzz here.
