Credit: Ian BurgessLast year, Robert Plant began playing concerts with a new group called Saving Grace at select venues in the U.K. and Ireland. Now the founding Led Zeppelin singer has lined up his first U.S. dates with the band.
The tour features seven shows, kicking off on May 12 in Minneapolis and mapped out through a May 23 concert in Washington, D.C. The trek also will visit Milwaukee on May 13; Chicago on May 15; Charleston, West Virginia, on May 17; Port Chester, New York, on May 19; and New York City on May 20.
Tickets for all of the shows except for the Chicago concert will go on sale to the general public this Friday, March 6, at 10 a.m. local time, while an artist pre-sale will be available for those gigs will begin on Wednesday, March 4, at 10 a.m. local time. Tickets for the Chicago show go on sale to the public March 16 at 9 a.m. CT.
Saving Grace features Plant on vocals and harmonica, Suzi Dian on vocals, Tony Kelsey and Matt Worley on multiple stringed instruments, and Oli Jefferson on percussion. The group’s style is described as “music inspired by the dreamscape of the Welsh Marches.”
The band’s sets have included a variety of British and American folk, gospel and blues songs, as well as select covers by such artists as Donovan, Moby Grape, Patty Griffin and indie-rock act Low.
