Epic RecordsLamb of God has announced the details of the group’s long-awaited new album.
The eighth studio effort from the Virginia metallers, and the first since 2015’s VII: Sturm und Drang, is self-titled and will be released May 8. You can download the lead single, “Checkmate,” now via digital outlets.
“‘Checkmate’ brings together all the components of the Lamb of God sound that we’ve been developing over the last two decades, but with the ambition and ferocity that comes with the start of a new chapter for our band,” says guitarist Mark Morton. “Re-energized and reignited, this is Lamb of God 2020. We’ve never been more excited.”
“Putting only our name on it is a statement,” frontman Randy Blythe adds of the self-titled album. “This is Lamb of God. Here and now.”
If you like what you hear and don’t have any Valentine’s Day plans, Lamb of God is playing a special headlining show at House of Vans in Chicago on February 14. You can RSVP to the free show starting at noon CT at HouseofVans.com.
This spring, Lamb of God will be on tour in Europe. They’ll be back in the U.S. to play the Welcome to Rockville festival in May.
