The Virginia metallers have shared a cryptic teaser, featuring quick cuts of political figures spliced together to form what seem like lyrics to an upcoming song. It ends with a chorus that goes, “Repeat. Echo. Refrain.”
According to the site MetalSucks.net, those are indeed the lyrics to a new track called “Checkmate.” LoG apparently sent the lyrics to fans subscribed to the band’s email list.
The end of the teaser instructs you to visit the Lamb of God website, where you’ll find a graphic of a pocket watch displaying the time two minutes after 12:00 and the date February 6. Hopefully, that means we’ll get to hear “Checkmate” this Thursday.
The new track will likely be the first preview of Lamb of God’s next album, the follow-up to 2015’s VII: Sturm und Drang.
