The masked metallers have been planning to release a new compilation titled Look Outside Your Window, an album of “experimental” outtakes recording during the sessions for 2008’s All Hope Is Gone. Speaking to NME, percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan shared an update on when we’ll get to hear the collection.
“It’s going to come out on this album cycle,” Crahan says, referring to the Knot’s latest album, We Are Not Your Kind. “It’ll just be this thing that happens and people won’t even know.”
Crahan adds that Look Outside Your Window isn’t just a companion to All Hope Is Gone, but a “very unique art-piece on its own.”
“It’s sort of timeless in my opinion,” Crahan explains. “I’ve waited this long for it to be right and it just never has.”
“We were going to release it way early on this album cycle, but [We Are Not Your Kind] one takes precedence,” he continues. “It’s not meant to be confused or watered down for marketing purposes. It’s really just another piece of the puzzle and the imagination that’s missing. People might really need it.”
We Are Not Your Kind, featuring the singles “Unsainted” and “Nero Forte,” was released in August. Slipknot is currently on tour in Europe in support of the record.
