I put that in quotes because he wasn’t actually arrested. McLovin is a fictitious character from the movie “Superbad.” Just one name on a fake id? So dumb it has to be a comedy right?! It was hilarious in “Superbad” and apparently worked for Daniel Burleson…at least for a little while. It got him into the bar and then a cop who thought he looked underage ruined everything! Burleson was drinking at the Airliner bar in Iowa City. Little backstory here-Iowa City is home to the University of Iowa(GO HAWKS!) and TONS of underage students who just want to get a buzz on. When I was in college we would drive to Iowa City and get some drinks. TRUE STORY:My friend Ann had lost her license due to excessive speeding in Illinois. All she had to prove her birthday was the speeding ticket in which she had scratched out the birth date and changed it to make her look 21. The bouncer took one look at this obvious forgery and said “(laughing)Just don’t get caught drinking okay.” That is the same bar Burleson was popped at. I gotta wonder if a bouncer told him the same thing. Regardless of what happened, Burleson was arrested and charged with 4 different offenses! He was charged with public intoxication, possession of a fake ID, possession of alcohol while underage and being in a bar after 10 p.m. while underage.
Seth Rogan who played a cop in “Superbad” saw the story and simply tweeted out “My work here is done.” Look how happy Burleson is! He knows he’s a legend on the night he got arrested! Picture is from the news station in Cedar Rapids KCRG.
