I mean… take any drive around the city, and you’ll be able to make this judgement yourself pretty quickly.
SmartAsset revealed their yearly results of states with the worst drivers and, as always, the south dominated the list. Go figure.
The full list consists of…
- Mississippi
- Alabama
- California
- Florida (tie)
- Nevada (tie)
- Texas (tie)
- Arizona
- Alaska (tie)
- Tennessee (tie)
- Missouri
With a few ties, Tennessee actually ranks #8 on the list. SmartAsset says,
Tied with Alaska for the eighth spot for the states with the worst drivers is Tennessee. Just 80% of Volunteer State drivers are insured, the fifth-lowest rate in the country. The state also sees 3.63 DUIs per 1,000 drivers and 1.35 fatalities per 100 million vehicle miles driven. It comes in 14th-highest for rate of searches for driving related tickets, according to Google Trends data.
Mind you, this all boils down to insurance, DUI’s, fatalities, etc. This doesn’t include texting and driving, slow drivers in the left lane, and idiots that don’t use their blinkers. If it counted all that, then I’m sure we’d be way further up the list!
