This isn’t something new, but, have you ever gone on a date just to get a free meal? It might sound like a pretty terrible thing to do, but that doesn’t stop people from doing it. Researchers found 23 to 33 percent of women in an online study say they’ve engaged in this behavior, dubbed a “foodie call.” Deeper analysis revealed women who scored higher on the “dark triad” or personality traits (i.e., psychopathy, Machiavellianism, and narcissism), as well as expressed traditional gender role beliefs, were most likely to engage in a foodie call and find it acceptable. The scientists also note the foodie calls can happen in many types of relationships, and can be initiated by all genders. Read up more and find out if you’ve been played for a free meal here
