It was iTunes that killed the CD. Streaming killed iTunes. Video killed the radio star? In the ever-evolving ways to listen to music, Apple just announced that iTunes will soon be no longer.
According to CNN,
Apple announced Monday that iTunes will be replaced by a trio of desktop apps called Music, TV and Podcasts — similar to how these services are already divided on iPhones and iPads. But the move to phase out iTunes didn’t come as a total surprise as the company has been pushing users toward its Apple Music subscription service. After all, Apple can charge a monthly fee to boost revenue rather than wait for a customer to buy a few songs.
Some of you may not even notice if iTunes goes MIA because streaming services like Spotify, Pandora, and Apple Music are king in how we listen to music these days. I still have an iPod and some CDs I listen to in my car. Probably because I don’t have a subscription to any music streaming sites and I drive a 2010. I’m just happy I have a CD player. HA!
Other than nixing iTunes, Apple is making a bunch of other changes too. Like their new MacPro looks like a damn cheese grater. Read more from CNN HERE.
