I made the title of this blog post as professional as I could. š
I can speak for pretty much all Nashvillians when I say that we are getting tired of those damn scooters downtown. I get it. They have a purpose. You only have a few blocks to go, and it’s too far to walk and it’s too short to grab an Uber or Lyft. Sure. But the amount of people that follow the rules on them are slim to none. For example: You can’t ride them on sidewalks, you can’t leave them in the middle of a sidewalk or street, and you have to wear a helmet on them. Now that I think of it, I’ve never seen a person on a scooter wearing a helmet. I even see two people on one scooter way too often. *facepalm*
These “rules” have basically been made into “suggestions,” and no reinforcements or consequences have been made for people that don’t follow them.
There was even a man that passed away recently due to a scooter accident. The incident happened last week.
According to Fox 17, there were around 2,500 scooters in Nashville in December 2018, and that number has risen to 4,150 in May 2019. Video below. Read more HERE.
