Looks like they showed up just in time for NYE. Shhhh, don’t tell them we have an amazing NYE party or it will be REALLY crowded here! Whether you believe in aliens or not, you can’t deny this looks a lot like the scene from Independence Day! What caused it? Well duh, some would say aliens landing. Others thought it was a gender reveal party gone awry, a dance club opening in Queens, and Gozer The Gozarian arriving. The “official” statement from Con Edison says that the mysterious blue flash was the result of “a brief electrical fire at our substation in Astoria which involved some electrical transformers and caused a transmission dip in the area.”
