We’ve all heard the Grantland Rice quote(you may not have known where it came from though) “It’s not whether you win or lose, it’s how you play the game.” Well, pitcher Ty Koehn gave sports fans the kind of celebration that should be remembered for a long time. After striking out Jack Kocon for the final out and sending his team to state tournament, Koehn made his way to homeplate to console Kocon. Why? They are childhood friends and even played on the same Little League team. “We are very close friends,” Koehn said. “It was tough when we went to separate schools but we kept in touch. … I knew the game was going to keep going or it was going to end right there. I knew I had to say something. Our friendship is more important than just the silly outcome of a game. I had to make sure he knew that before we celebrated. It was more instinct, it just felt right.” Pretty amazing display of sportsmanship and friendship right there!
Amazing display of showmanship!
