Les Claypool, virtuoso bassist for the band Primus, recently did an interview with Lars Ulrich of Metallica for Lars’ Beats One radio show, “It’s Electric.”
Now, for those of you who have never heard of Primus and have never been introduced to Alowishus Abercrombie (that’s long for Mud), then you may recognize him from possibly his most famous role to date: the twangy voice that starts out every episode of South Park.
Claypool, being a man of practicality, has decided to exploit that super-stardom in the greatest way possible: to get through customs at border checkpoints faster. That’s it. That’s his number one perk for being the sound behind one of the most iconic theme songs in television history. Alrighty then…
Now, for any Primus fan out there, there’s no way you’re even remotely surprised by this answer. Les has always been known for seemingly not caring whatsoever about fame or celebrity with his band. I mean, heck, fans are known for throwing mud on stage and yelling, “Primus sucks!” But, according to Claypool, more and more people are forgetting about Primus and only recognizing him as the “South Park guy.” What is the world coming to???
You can check out the interview excerpt in question below, and let me know which role you know Les Claypool for, bassist or South Park composer?
