Following their latest album release Walls and their solidified status as one of the biggest bands in modern rock, it’s sometimes hard to remember a time when Kings of Leon’s only big hit on the charts was “Sex on Fire.” And while this is no means the band’s most raunchy song in their catalog (check out the lyrics to “Taper Jean Girl”), it’s still not hard to see why you may wanna keep this one away from the kiddos.
Well, now that drummer Nathan Followill is a father, he explained on Radio X that he has come up with a fun way to explain the song to his 4-year-old daughter; “It’s Socks on Fire. Uncle Caleb’s socks caught on fire one night when I was drying them out on the heater.”
Personally, I think it’s a brilliant idea and a great way to get the kids in on the “Sex on Fire” bandwagon, and maybe we’ll even see a “Socks on Fire” remake for a Kidz Bop album in the future, who knows? And as for the rest of the NSFW Kings of Leon catalog, eh, maybe just keep those in secret until she’s old enough.
But if you want chance to go see Kings of Leon and hear “Socks on Fire” in person, they’ll be coming to town on September 29th, more details at our website here!
