Sunday night Warren Beatty pulled a Steve Harvey in front of a much larger audience announcing the wrong name for “Best Picture” at The Oscars. The problem was corrected and the award given to its rightful recipients. End of story right? Nope! News coming out that PWC(in charge of the envelopes)is being investigated and the guy who was in charge of handing the correct envelope may have been Tweeting prior to giving Beatty the wrong envelope.
So where’s the humor in this you say? One London cinema has poked fun at the incident by pranking an audience and instead of Moonlight showing, the cinema played the first 20 seconds of La La Land. The audience apparently got it. “The audience got the joke straight away and gave a huge round of applause. We had a packed house that night and the response on social media has been fantastic,” says cinema director Oliver Meek. Just imagine if that happened in the US..we’d have protests. Nice one English…nice.
