I’m giving away the 25th Anniversary edition of Temple of The Dog album all week in the 11 am hour, but Soundgarden is also getting ready to release the 25th anniversary edition of their album “Badmotorfinger” on November 18th. But now…..Looks like we’ll also have some music out from Mother Love Bone soon! Temple of The Dog was the tribute that Chris Cornell did for Andrew Wood, his room mate and lead singer for Mother Love Bone. Taking a trip back to the 90’s! Who’s with me? More on the Mother Love Bone Album:
The recordings of pre-Pearl Jam band Mother Love Bone will be collected on Mother Love Bone: On Earth As It Is — The Complete Works. The reissue will be released on November 4.
Based in Seattle, Mother Love Bone featured eventual Pearl Jam membersStone Gossard and Jeff Ament, and was fronted by charismatic vocalistAndrew Wood. The band released an EP in 1989 called Shine, followed by its one and only full-length album, 1990’s Apple. On Earth As It Is will include remastered versions of both Apple and Shine.
The collection will be available on vinyl with new artwork and rare photos, as well as on CD/DVD and digitally. The CD/DVD version will include two bonus discs of B-sides, demos and unreleased songs, plus the concert film Love Bone Earth Affair. You can pre-order On Earth As It Is in its various formats via Pearl Jam’s websiteor iTunes.
Days before Apple was originally scheduled to be released, Wood died from a heroin overdose at age 24, causing Mother Love Bone to break up. Following the dissolution of their band, Gossard and Ament would then team up with Chris Cornell, Matt Cameron and Mike McCready to form Temple of the Dog before eventually forming Pearl Jam with McCready and singer Eddie Vedder. In fact, Temple of the Dog was founded as a tribute to Wood.
Coincidentally, Temple of the Dog will kick off their first-ever tour on November 4 in Philadelphia — the same dayOn Earth As It Is will be released.
