Does it make me a terrible person that I’ve almost completely forgotten about the hunt for the new lead dude for STP? Whoever they pick, he’s got some big shoes to fill.
The band hosted a page where literally anybody could sing along to “Plush,” “Sex Type Thing,” etc. to win them over and be the new guy in the lead spot. Like American Idol, except via YouTube.
So it’s been months now. Who did they pick? Well, they still don’t know yet, but they’re narrowing it down to apparently three submissions that could fit the part.
There’s one auditioner that’s gotten a bite from STP’s management named Einar Vilberg of Iceland. Take a look at him… Does he remind you of anyone?

According to Alternative Nation, he was contacted by STP to come audition in Los Angeles over the summer, holding an audition in Dave Grohl’s studio, and now they’re debating among him and two other singers.
Einar Vilberg told Alternative Nation:
“I honestly hope the band will choose an appropriate singer that will carry on the legacy, but more importantly has his own voice and is not a Scott Weiland impersonator. I know they have been auditioning a lot of people these last few months. I hope they find someone great. They deserve it.”
