Yeah… apparently this is something new that’s happening in Germany. They are installing traffic lights in sidewalks that will hopefully help people who are distracted by their phones not get hit by vehicles when crossing the street.
While I understand why, and have sympathy for those who have been injured… what I don’t get is, why is looking up for a minute such an issue? I mean it is common sense right? If you are going to walk in an area where you have a chance of dying if you don’t pay attention, why would you have your face buried in a phone? You might as well be wearing a blindfold! Is this not just accommodating negligence… accommodating stupidity?
It’s like the video we saw awhile back where they guy was so immersed in his phone he almost walked face first into a bear! I mean, if he would have been eaten by the bear… yeah, it would be a sad story… but it essentially would have been his own fault.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to see people eaten by bears or hit by vehicles… but at what point do we accept responsibility for our own actions? Not to get deep… just sayin’
Eyes up!
