If you’re a fan of Queen, you obviously don’t need a scientist to confirm that Freddie Mercury had an astonishing voice. But, still, it’s nice to know they do.
A group of Austrian, Czech, and Swedish researchers, clearly Queen fans, took time to prove that his voice is just as good as listeners thought.
And guess what? It is.
Did Freddie Mercury us subharmonics in his singing? Yes. Was he capable of spanning four octaves? Eh, not exactly, but the research proved that his voice was capable of accomplishing some pretty uncommon things.
I’ve always sucked at science, so I’ll let EW explain the rest of the study here, and if you wanna get REALLY scientific with it, see the full study from Taylor & Francis Online here. Nerds. 😉
