That is the basics of the story… and by the end of it, you might start thinking who needs enemies when you have family. This woman… ugh!
Jennifer Connell was in court yesterday over a lawsuit she filed against her 12-year-old nephew, Sean Tarala. The incident happened at the kid’s 8th birthday party when the young boy leapt into his Aunt’s arms for a hug. This resulted in them falling and her breaking her wrist.
We’ll call it Huggate…
Connell was searching for a sum of $127,000 in damages. In court she was quoted as saying, “I live in Manhattan in a third-floor walk-up, so it has been very difficult. And we all know how crowded it is in Manhattan.” Later on saying, ” I was at a party recently, and it was difficult to hold my hors d’oeuvre plate.”
Oh how terrible it must be for you lady… in your expensive Manhattan home, and not being able to hold your crackers and cheese and some party. How miserable do you have to be to sue a kid for giving you a hug? For suing your own nephew? Oh, and if you thought that was the worst of it… just last year, the 12-year-old’s mom passed away!
Luckily this gem of a human being received nothing from the courts. After only 20 minutes of deliberation a Superior Court jury in Bridgeport, CT decided she was NOT entitled to any damages.
