LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Police say a Louisville man who claimed to be Jesus Christ attacked a woman he said was the devil.
According to an arrest report, the assault took place just before 6:30 a.m. on Saturday. That’s when police say 52-year-old Colvotte Brooks, of E. Kentucky Street, assaulted an elderly woman identified only as “Jane Doe.” The woman, who was in her 80s, was allegedly dragging herself across the street on her hands and knees, when Brooks walked up to her and threw a glass plate at her head.
She suffered an injury to her right cheek which was bleeding and swollen. Police say she was unable to tell the officer her name, and was “very disoriented.”
Brooks allegedly stated that he was Jesus Christ and the woman was the devil. He was arrested and charged with second degree assault.
During his arraignment on Monday morning, Brooks became argumentative with the judge, telling her that he was the head of Homeland Security. The judge upgraded his assault charge to attempted murder and set his bond at $500,000.
