It seems like the cast and crew for the new biopic detailing the history of the band are finally having a good time as filming has officially begun in London!
The new project will be named “Bohemian Rhapsody,” and will have Mr. Robot star Rami Malek in the lead role as the legendary Freddie Mercury. It will definitely be interesting to see if Malek has the acting chops to take on such an iconic and charismatic character as Mercury, but according to Executive Producer and former Queen guitarist Brian May in an interview with Rolling Stone, Malek has already begun “living and breathing Freddie” to prepare for the role.
But a movie’s nothing without a great director at the wheel, and for this task May recruited Bryan Singer, who you may recognize from his work on the X-Men franchise and, of course, The Usual Suspects.
Overall, the concept for the film seems really cool if you’re even remotely a fan of the band, and I’m excited to see their depiction of the famous Live Aide concert, which May claims will be “faithfully recreated.”
Now the crew is just waiting for their funding from Fox, and then they’ll be able to begin filming in London.
