Saturday night’s party playlist is here. You ARE WELCOME.
Vera Bloom- “Say Goodbye”
Vera Bloom took a few months away from releasing music, only to come back stronger than ever with her latest single “Say Goodbye”. The confidence in the lyrics to this song suite Vera perfectly. As an artist I’ve always admired for blazing her own trail, it’s a fitting song lyrically as she takes no prisoners with her music. When I play this song on my radio show, I give her some sick 90s bleeps to hide those F Bombs, but in my car I sing them proudly and loudly.
Early Humans- “Always Waiting”
One of my favorite bands in town dropped one of my new favorite songs a few weeks back and it’s been leading my playlist ever since. Early Humans stick out in Nashville in such a rad and much needed way. They have a sound all their own and I’ve noticed younger bands even starting to cite them as an influence. I feel like 2022 is the year of Early Humans and I will die on this hill.
Notelle- “Turnover Rate”
This past year Notelle has officially released 3 of my favorite songs. She dropped “Turnover Rate” on Friday and the trio of fav songs was complete. She’s an artist to watch in so many ways, from her insane stage shows, heavy lyrics, and powerful voice and music, it’s only a matter of time before I won’t be able to get on the guest list to her shows. It’ll be a sad day but I’ll be 100% proud.
Flickerstick- “Coke [Naked With My Girl]”
FINALLY the original version of “Coke” is out for the world to hear the song it was originally intended to be heard. I’m not sure of the exact story, but I know that Epic Records changed the word “naked” to “taken” for the 2001 release of this song and it always drove me crazy thinking maybe I had heard the boys wrong at their shows. WELP turns out I didn’t. Love this OG version.
ELEL- “UFO”
ELEL returned with “UFO” on Friday and all is officially right in the world again. I’ve been a fan of these guys since they began and some of my favorite memories are watching them rock n roll when we would play shows together. To me, they’re one of the most important bands to come outta Nashville in the last decade and I can’t wait to hear this song live and sing along LOUD.
