In what could have been a scene from Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory, a child was rescued from the Hersheypark monorail tracks after sneaking past barricades to get up there. Instead of a group of Oompa Loompas coming to the “rescue” and singing a creepy little song about it, a hero dad’s instincts kicked in and snagged the little explorer.
The man scaled a snack-stand roof, hopped onto the tracks and scooped up the child, earning cheers from the crowd and a lifetime of chocolate-covered, deliciously good karma.
The boy was perfectly fine and reunited with family in under half an hour, while Hersheypark is now checking where their candy-coated security crew went wrong.
