Pearl, the surprisingly spry chicken from Little Elm, Texas, has made her way up the pecking order into the Guinness Book of World Records at the ripe old age of 14 years and 69 days which is roughly equivalent to 100 in chicken years!
Apparently, these types of hens clock out around 5 to 8 years, but not Pearl! While Pearl is now the oldest living chicken on the planet, she still trails Peanut, the legendary, late hen that reached 21 years and some change.
Either way, Pearl’s owner, Sonya Hull says Pearl’s mobility is a bit limited so she spends a lot of time in the laundry room, but sometimes comes out to the living room to watch TV with the family’s elderly cat and kitten.
