Ever walk into a room and forget why you went in there? Researchers from the University of Liège investigated why we have these “brain farts”, and discovered we may be taking “mini-naps.” The team found that these blackouts could be similar to microsleeping. People report experiencing brain farts between 5 to 20% of the time while performing typical tasks. Those with ADHD experience mind blanks more frequently. “Our aim here is to start a conversation and see how mind blanking relates to other seemingly similar experiences, such as meditation,” study author Antoine Lutz said.
