When a THERAPIST sits down and watches all 27 Slipknot music videos, what’s her biggest takeaway? We weren’t expecting this conclusion…
In the video below, she admits she was turned off by this “devil” music, (she said it, not us), but she wanted to understand the hype of the band, so she watched and dissected all 27 videos.
The video was published to YouTube with the caption, “Professional Therapist, Taylor Palmby, has analyzed all 27 Slipknot music videos and has come to a SINGLE conclusion about Slipknot. In this video, she walks you through the journey and immerses herself in the world of Slipknot, alerts you to what she found, and tells you why it matters. At the end of the video, she discusses how steeping herself in the blood and guts of Slipknot has affected her mental health.”
The video that caught her attention the most was the gruesome “The Devil In I,” off their album .5: The Gray Chapter, released in 2014. She said,
“Instead of masking our pain, Slipknot invites us to wear it. And what I know about therapy is nothing happens, nothing changes, no healing can be done, until we bring the darkness to the surface.”
“The band doesn’t just sing about pain, they wear their pain.”
“Their masks tell their stories. They bear their own scars.”
“Slipknot isn’t TRYING to be a band of hope. Slipknot isn’t TRYING to get you to work on your mental health. All they’re doing is saying ‘pain doesn’t belong inside.’ It belongs where we can see it.”
It gets more intense too. She even gets her own mask designed. Watch the full video below, and read more from Loudwire HERE.
