Greta Van Fleet is hoping to capture its second Grammy Award for Best Rock Album this weekend in Los Angeles. The quartet's third full-length, “Starcatcher,” is up in that category at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards; Greta Van Fleet previously won in that category in 2019, for its 2018 debut album “From the Fires.” The group's Sam Kiska tells us that the band enjoyed making “Starcatcher” in Nashville with Grammy Award-winning producer Dave Cobb, who's best known for his country and Americana work:
“It was a very comfortable process. It wasn't like, 'Oh, third album! Gotta make a third album!' It was really more of an experiment than any of the either albums. The concept was to get in the studio and be able to capture the most authentic, raw takes, which pretty much meant writing half of the album in the studio so we're not overthinking it.” : 28
“Starcatcher” debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200, while its singles “Meeting the Master” and “The Falling Sky” both hit the Top 20 of the Mainstream Rock Songs chart.
