Vancouver’s Loose Fang came onto my radar in 2020 by releasing 3 of my favorite songs of that year. Needless to say, I’ve been patiently waiting to see when the band would be dropping new music. That long awaited question was answered on Friday when Loose Fang dropped “Playful Enchantress” and they have once again reminded us why they are one of the best new bands around. To me, the songs they released in 2020 were the solid foundation and this upcoming EP is going to pick up right where they left off. I often say Loose Fang reminds me of Cage the Elephant meets The Replacements meets Superdrag all wrapped into their very own sound. I think musically I can see elements of those bands, but more than anything, those 3 bands made the music they wanted and played by their own rules, and in 2023 few are doing exactly that as well as Loose Fang. Here’s to 2023 and seeing what they do next. Now do yourself a favor and turn this one up NOW.
