I remember hearing a few months ago that Jane’s Addiction had to cancel a few of their Canadian dates opening for Smashing Pumpkins and assuming the dates would be rescheduled. I was stoked (and overcome with jealousy of my Canadian friends), when I heard Our Lady Peace were filling in for Jane’s Addiction on the dates. I’ve been an Our Lady Peace fan since the mid 90s and have seen them countless times in theaters, clubs, outdoor festivals, but I’ve always wanted to see them in an arena setting. Since the band are Canadian royalty and legends, I imagine they’ve played arenas many times, but for me down here in Nashville it was a dream way to see one of my favorite bands. Obviously filling in for Jane’s Addiction comes with a certain amount of pressure and Our Lady Peace decided to channel that pressure into a RAD version of the Jane’s Addiction classic, “Mountain Song”. Talk about a tribute from one legendary band to another, Our Lady Peace somehow manages to keep true to the classic song all the while giving it their own distinct sound we all know and love. Well done Our Lady Peace, I hope this cover becomes a set list staple because I’d love to hear it for myself, but until then you can hear it right now if you turn this one up NOW.
