Michael Loccisano/FilmMagic for Heidi RobinsonMisfits have filed a copyright lawsuit against the book publisher Abrams.
According to the World Intellectual Property Review, which keeps tabs on this sort of thing, the horror punks accuse Abrams of improperly using the band’s copyrighted “Fiend Skull” logo in its coffee table photo book, Scream with Me: The Enduring Legacy of the Misfits.
The book describes itself as “the ultimate visual history paying tribute to one of punk’s most iconic bands.”
“Abrams’ unauthorized copying of the ‘Fiend Skull’ mark as the main image on the cover of the book is likely to cause confusion and lead consumers to mistakenly believe that Abrams and the book are endorsed, approved, or sponsored by, or affiliated, connected, or associated with Misfits AD,” the lawsuit reads.
Misfits AD is the company set up by members Glenn Danzig and Jerry Only to deal with these matters.
Danzig and Only reunited the Misfits in 2016, 33 years after the former originally left the band. They’ve since played a number of one-off shows across the U.S., and will play their first international reunion show in Mexico this May.
