Nickelback hoping to become a “cool band again” on ‘All the Right Reasons’ anniversary tour

Courtesy Live NationThis summer, Nickelback will embark on a U.S. tour celebrating the 15th anniversary of their 2005 hit album All the Right Reasons. In a video promoting the tour, the Canadian rockers explain how the crowds at their shows have changed over the last decade-and-a-half, and how that may lead to a change in attitude towards the band.

“Our original fans’ kids are now coming to the shows,” shares drummer Daniel Adair. “They were raised on us. That’s the legacy part of this. And, hopefully, it’ll transcend to, ‘We’re a cool band again.'”

Guitarist Ryan Peake, however, isn’t so sure.

“Don’t hold your breath,” he quips.

On the tour, Nickelback will be playing the entirety of All the Right Reasons in all of its diamond-certified glory, including the singles “Photograph,” “Savin’ Me” and “Rockstar.”

“It’s really cool, because all those songs off of that record don’t really feel like ours anymore,” says frontman Chad Kroeger.

“Those songs got played a ton on the radio. Some of them got played a little too much on the radio, I think,” he laughs. “Hence, a bit of the backlash. But they belong to the fans now.”

Along with the hits, Nickelback will be playing some of their songs live for the very first time during the tour.

“We’re gonna leave it all there on the stage,” Kroeger promises.

The All the Right Reasons 15th anniversary tour launches June 19 in Raleigh, North Carolina. The bill will also include Stone Temple Pilots and Switchfoot.
