This week’s pick (8/13/18 to 8/17/18): Rock Eupora “It’s Gonna Get Better”
Born and raised in Jackson Mississippi, Clayton Waller AKA Rock Eupora creates a lively blend of gritty rock and shimmering pop straight from his DIY home studio. Now based in Nashville, Rock Eupora combines earworm hooks, galactic melodies, and heartfelt lyrics to create a unique take on power pop. The latest album, Soon the Sun Will Come, shows Waller taking his sound into a more polished and refined territory of indie music.
Clayton started taking piano lessons at the age of 5. He quickly discovered his love for songwriting and performing and began taking advantage of every musical opportunity that came his way. While a junior at Mississippi State University, he helped form rock-n-roll power trio Wolf Cove. Although the group dissolved as graduation approached, the experience reaffirmed his passion for music. During his senior year of college at Mississippi State, Waller wrote and home-recorded the debut album, Blanks. As a homage to his Mississippi roots, he named the new project after the nearby town of Eupora.
After making the move to Nashville in 2014, Waller began writing and recording the second full-length album in his apartment-converted basement, once again playing every instrument on the album. In a live setting, Rock Eupora takes the shape of a full band to create an exhilarating and unforgettable experience. Within a few years, Rock Eupora had taken the rock scene by storm, having played some of Nashville’s most prestigious venues including Marathon Music Works, Exit/In, and Mercy Lounge. Rock Eupora maintains an impressive touring schedule, bringing the high-energy performance to cities across the U.S.
