Pretty much everyone knows about the devastating wildfires that is leaving destruction in so many communities across California for over a week now. So far, the fires have taken 79 lives and destroyed nearly 400 square miles.
In the midst of such destruction, one bright side is the way that so many people (including a bunch of celebrities in the area) have joined together to help out. Just a few days ago, Dave Grohl did what any former southern boy would do and made BBQ for the firefighters controlling the blaze. If you haven’t seen all the cool stuff he’s done, check out our article on it here.
Metallica recently threw their hat into the ring by donating a whopping $100k to both the North Valley Community Foundation and the Los Angeles Fire Department through the band’s charitable branch All Within My Hands. In a prepared statement on the donation, the band had this to say:
“Sadly once again communities in California are experiencing historically devastating wild fires in both the Northern and Southern parts of the state. All Within My Hands has made a $50,000 donation each to the North Valley Community Foundation and the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation. Both agencies provide service to victims at evacuation centers and other much needed relief. We would like to encourage you to join us in supporting those in need and our first responders in any way you can by donating money, non-perishable food, clothing and other supplies or by giving your time volunteering or providing temporary housing. Every little bit helps.”
As always, it’s good to see public figures and role models using their influence to help people in need, and if you want to make a donation, here are the links below:
