It’s an understatement to say that Mike Shinoda’s new album Post-Traumatic is inspired by the untimely death of Linkin Park band mate Chester Bennington. In fact, as the title suggests, the album is almost a forced reaction to loss and grief. But to not look at this album as its own thing in spite of Linkin Park would be a disservice to the amount of good music that Shinoda is putting out.
Case and point, Shinoda released a music video for one of the tracks on Post-Traumatic called “Lift Off.” But this one’s special, because Mike decided to recruit the help of legendary Deftones vocalist Chino Moreno and rapper Machine Gun Kelly, and while I never would have imagined Shinoda working with either of those two, something about the collaboration makes some really cool sounds!
