Valerie Thompson, an American motorcycle and land speed racer, somehow survived a 343 mph crash while attempting to break the world record for the overall two-wheel in Australia Monday.
Thankfully her safety parachute deployed just in time but, she slid an entire mile before coming to a complete stop:
No word on a new date to try to break the record again, but Valerie is safe, “I could wiggle my toes and move my hands, so I knew I was OK,” she recalled to a team spokesman. “I tried to get out but was having a difficult time. Finally, the rescue team arrived and helped get me all the way out.”
If you ain’t first yer last. Good luck next time Valerie!
