I had no idea there were 2 states in the U.S. that didn’t let people pump their own gas. New Jersey being one, and the other Oregon. Well, on Jan 1st, a new law went into effect that lets Oregonians pump their own gas now at stand alone gas stations in counties with populations under 40,000. But some people long time citizens of Oregon are not having any of this. Some quotes from the constituents include: “Attendant-pumped gas is one of those long-time Oregon things, like no sales tax, that has always made this state unique. Native Oregonians are proud to be different from the rest of the country – and to not stink like gasoline all day after a fill-up.” One person even wrote: “I don’t even know HOW to pump gas and I am 62, native Oregonian…..I say NO THANKS! I don’t want to smell like gasoline!” I would love it if some gas stations went back to the 1950’s and had an attendant that still pumped my gas for me.
