Look who surprised the crowd at the Reading Festival?! Brian Johnson is BACK. Pun intended.
From ABC Radio:
Brian Johnson made a surprise appearance at the U.K.’s Reading Festival Sunday night when he joined Muse onstage to play “Back in Black.” The performance marked the first time Johnson’s sang an AC/DC song live since he was forced to stop touring due to a serious hearing condition.
“Such an honor to have the legendary Brian Johnson join us onstage at Reading Festival last night. Thanks so much Brian!” Muse tweeted following the show. Fan-recorded footage of the collaboration is streaming now on YouTube.
In March 2016, it was revealed that Johnson was at risk of “total hearing loss” if he continued to tour. AC/DC ended up finishing their tour with Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose handling lead vocals.
Johnson made his first on-stage appearance following his forced retirement this past May, when he and Led Zeppelin‘s Robert Plant joined Bad Company singer Paul Rodgers during the latter’s solo concert in Oxford, England. The trio performed a cover of Barrett Strong‘s 1959 Motown hit “Money (That’s What I Want).”
Despite his diagnosis, Johnson’s remained optimistic about his condition, and has been working with in-ear technology specialists so that he can find a way back to the live stage more often.

Thank God for camera phones, because one lucky attendee got to see it live and capture it. Enjoy.
