The Solar Eclipse Happens on August 21st, and where will you to be to watch it? Well, we’re going to be on the back porch at Fontanel playing Pink Floyd’s ‘Dark Side of The Moon’ and watching the eclipse. However, you could be 35,000 feet in the air? Alaska Airlines has an invitation for “astronomy enthusiasts and eclipse-chasers.” To get in on this once in a lifetime event you have to enter a contest by submitting a :30 second video showing Alaska Airlines how much of an AvGeek or SpaceGeek you are. You can enter the contest here. Southwest Airlines are also offering flights where you can get a good view also. I wonder how many people will also want to join the ‘mile high club’ also on these flights. For more info on the eclipse you can go here. And if you want to see what it’s like to fly during a Solar Eclipse, watch this vid from Alaska Airlines from 2008.
