I’ve gotten a contact stuck in my eye, once. But 27 pairs?! A 65 year old lady was being prepped for eye surgery at England’s Solihull Hospital (I know people from there) and found 27 pairs of contact lenses stuck in her eye. Ophthalmologist Rupal Morjaria says she and her colleagues “were startled to find 17 contact lenses clumped together as they were injecting anesthesia into the woman’s eye at Solihull Hospital, southeast of Birmingham. They then recovered another 10 lenses. Part of their surprise, she said, was because the patient hadn’t complained of any irritation.” The patient had worn contact for 35 years but rarely went to the eye doctor for checkups.
