In its 3rd week at the top of the Billboard Mainstream Rock charts, Stone Sour’s latest hit “Song #3” off of their new album Hydrograd is promising to be one of the band’s future classics.
Although we’ve been spinning it for a little over a month here at the Buzz, I found a whole new appreciation for the song when I saw a video released yesterday of Stone Sour playing an acoustic version at Sphere Studios in California, where Hydrograd was recorded. In this intimate performance, filmed in black and white, we get a stripped down version of “Song #3” that really drives home the sensitivity of what is, at its core, a love ballad. It’s a moment of vulnerability that made me realize the true emotion of the song’s lyrics that can sometimes get lost in drum fills and power chords.
