From Billboard:
Following a hard-hitting performance with his band Imagine Dragons, member Dan Reynolds came back to the stage with a more somber message.
He told the audience that while the night is a celebration, it was also important to take a moment and remember the legendary Chris Cornell of Soundgarden, Audioslave and Temple of the Dog — Cornell died on May 17. Reynold’s referenced not only how Cornell helped shape the genre of grunge rock but also his lasting influence on the music industry as a whole.
On the verge of tears, Reynolds asked for a moment of silence as a photo of Cornell filled television screens at home and the monitors in the venue.
