People are mad that an app used to change your picture, is changing your picture… just not the politically correct way.
Yesterday was International Women’s Day, and in honor of this Snapchat released 3 filters celebrating famous women in history. One of these filters was the Marie Curie filter. Madame Curie was a famous physicist and chemist who was the first woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize. Now the problem people have with, is that the filter “beautifies” the face. Specifically in this instance, it gives the user longer eyelashes, makeup, and a thinner face. People are upset because they feel this objectifies and stereotypes women, which is exactly what International Women’s Day promotes against.
Really? This is the soapbox you want to hop on? This is a dumb app that changes your face so you can take dumb pictures. Get over it!
Do you think it is PC when I do a face-swap with the kid and we end up looking like offspring from The Hills Have Eyes movie?
C’mon people… I can respect when legitimate gripes are aired, but is this where we are at? Complaining about some dumb app as if it is some social confine? As if it is setting us back 100 years? Get a grip & give me a break! The only reason people are hopping this bandwagon is so they can say, “look at how many people liked my picture!” Pretty much buying into the same BS they are supposedly making a stand against.
