One out of three Americans get their news from Facebook… which leads to things like this…
Yesterday, I had someone email me asking why I wasn’t talking about Rob Zombie being tackled on the red carpet at the Oscars. Well, it’s pretty simple why I wasn’t… it’s not true.
A story was circulating on Facebook how Rob Zombie was mistaken as a homeless man, and was tackled by security on the red carpet at the Oscars before being carted off. As a result, fans reposted and shared the story spreading the news. Some users even became enraged over the news because they are such big fans of Zombie. The problem that many people did not notice, is that the original story was written as a satire piece.
Morale of the story… Just because it’s on Facebook doesn’t make it true. I mean if it was like that, Mark Zuckerberg should have sent me my $1,000,000 by now… or at the very least, the unicorn people said we were going to get.
