These are stories you hear and think they have to be made up. But, alas. It’s Florida, so you know they are true.
Brevard County, Florida deputies were called on November 13th after getting calls about two men hiding behind houses. Officers searched the area with helicopters and K-9 officers, but couldn’t find the perps. Now you see what had happened was, Matthew Riggins called his girlfriend up and told her that he and his boy were about to break into some houses and make off with some goodies. He then later called her and told her that, they were hiding out in the woods…He was never heard from again. His body was discovered floating in a lake, with the lower parts of his leg, and part of one arm missing. The 11-foot-long alligator that attacked him was so ferocious it had to be euthanized by a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission trapper as Riggins’ corpse was being recovered.
